At the time of writing we have 35 participants so far and the number is rising daily so I am hoping to have many more before we begin on February 1st. Maybe some of you have been waiting to see what is involved before you decide. One of the partcipants expressed concern about keeping up with sewing 8 blocks each month. Although that may sound a lot, remember they are only 6½″ blocks. Also, there is no pressure. No ‘Block Police’! So, if you don’t have time to complete them each month or even don’t feel like it, there is no one chasing you up to pressure you. You can sew them whenever you feel like it. I will publish the blocks each month and then it is up to you. You could also make a smaller size quilt, by either making only 2, 4, or 6 blocks each month. There, does that make you feel better now?
Another person asked me if it was free and the answer is, yes it is free. So, let’s just share in the fun.
Now, here is the sneak preview that I promised you.
I am making my Quiltalong Quilt in monochromatic colours and this works well. I have used Lemons/Creams/Whites. I am also making another in blues. Here is a sneak preview of that one.
But you could make yours in whatever colours you like. Maybe you would like to use all brights or it would also look good totally scrappy.Whatever you choose, you will need a selection of light, medium and dark. You will need around 3 metres of background fabric, which will be your light and then lots of scraps for the mediums and darks. Prints, plains and checks will all work well.
Well, that is all the info for now. You have two weeks to think about it and start to gather your fabrics.
If you haven’t already signed up to join the Quiltalong and would like to join in. Just e mail me at Contact Me and I will add your name to the Participants list. Don’t forget to include you name plus your blog URL if you have one.
Once we all get going I am hoping you will send me some photos of your blocks as we progress and I will start a Flickr page so that we can all see how everyone is getting on.
I hope you are all looking forward to it as much as I am. Roll on February 1st.
