AT LAST, here are the details of the next SewHappy Sewalong. Hooray!!! It is my Valentine Sewalong and this is what we will be sewing.
I do hope you like it. The finished size is 20″ x 14″ and it will make a great cushion, which I will show you as we go along. An ideal Valentine or wedding gift. We will be using piecing, appliqué and stitchery techniques. So, a nice mixture.
Now, for the Sewalong details.
The Valentine SAL will begin this Friday 27th January and it will be in three parts. The first part of the pattern and instructions will be published on my blog this Friday, with each of the next two published on the next two Fridays. This will mean that the final part will be published on 10th February. So, you can have it finished (by the skin of your teeth) by Valentine’s Day. So sorry to have left it so late but time has overtaken me.
The SAL will proceed in the same manner as the previous Christmas SAL. Each part will be published on a Friday and will only be available FREE for one week. Please note: I will be unable to email out any missed patterns, but the complete pattern will be available to purchase in my pattern shop at the beginning of February, if you should miss any part. You will also see as we progress that each of the three parts could be made up as individual little wallhangings.
Now for your fabric requirements. You will need about ¼ metre of white fabric (or background colour) and then a selection of different colours for the patchwork and appliqué. These are the fabrics that I have used.
Most of these fabrics are from the Forever Spring range of fabrics by Nancy Halvorsen. I bought mine from my favourite online Quilting Store – The Fat Quarter Shop. I really like these fabrics and have some other plans in mind for using them. They are soft gentle colours and yet have a hint of vibrancy, if that makes sense.
