I am very pleased that you all enjoyed my bunting/curtain transformation.

For those of you that may be interested this is how I made my bunting.

First of all I measured my curtain pole circumference which was 4″ and then added 1″ (to allow extra for turning and for ease of threading on to curtain pole) making 5″. I divided this by two which gives me 2½″. This was the amount that I needed to add as extra above my triangles. I then drew out four different sizes of triangles and added this extra 2½″ above in the same shape as the triangle below.

Here are my paper patterns showing the shapes that I cut my templates.

Bunt1

Once you have made your paper patterns use a variety of fabrics to cut a selection of pairs of fabric triangles.

Pin and stitch pairs of triangles right sides together.

Bunt2

Clip points and corners of triangles (three places). Turn through and press.

Bunt3

Bunt4

Turn over top raw edges of each triangle by ½″ and press.

Bunt5

Turn over top edges to match triangle shapes and stitch. I double stitch either end to make more secure.

Bunt6

Bunting triangles are now complete ready to put onto curtain poles.

That’s great! I was thinking how much fun it would be, not necessarily all in one year, to have different holiday shapes up, too. Thanks for the tutorial.
