This is a super-easy apron to make from a tea towel.
Download The Apron Pattern Instructions to make the apron.
Once you have made the apron you need to download and print the Lemon Appliqué Pattern Sheet
You will notice on the pattern sheet that I have also reversed the appliqué shapes for you to trace if you are planning to use fusible web (bondaweb) for your appliqué method, which is the method that I have chosen. Note that dotted lines for the appliqué shapes indicate where this area of the appliqué piece is placed beneath another.
Make sure to centre the design above the pocket.
If you are using a light coloured tea towel you should be able to place the design underneath the tea towel and it will show through for tracing. You can use a lightbox if you have one or alternatively you can sellotape the design on a window pane and place the tea towel on top to trace your design. If you are using a dark coloured tea towel you will need to trace the design using dressmakers carbon paper. Clover make a good carbon paper called Chacopy. The pack contains 3 or 4 different coloured papers.
Use your chosen fabrics for the appliqué design and your preferred method of appliqué. I have used a machine zig-zag stitch.
The words are stitched using either coton a broder thread or 3 strands of stranded embroidery thread.
Once you apron is finished you may want to make yourself a nice gin and tonic to celebrate. 🙂
