A Heart Project for Valentine’s Day

Next Friday is Valentine’s Day, so I thought I would give you a little heart project.

Broken Heart Cushion

The hearts on this cushion have been paper pieced and as each heart has no more than five pieces they are very easy to sew. I have bonded them to a white background. The dividing strips are simply bonded to the background too. So, as you can imagine, super easy. Then everything is quilted in place with big stitch quilting.

If you would like to make this cushion then go to my Heart Cushion Tutorial where you can download the free pattern and also follow my step by step photos on the paper piecing process.

Well, there you are, a quick little project for the week-end.

And if you like the heart design you might like the Broken Hearts Pattern in my pattern shop. Although it is a similar design it is not paper pieced but entirely appliquéd.

Free Christmas Cushion Pattern

I have a free Christmas design for you today for this ‘Luv Me Ted‘. I hope you like it.

Christmas Cushion PatternI have machine appliquéd my design and made it into a cushion. If you would like to see a quick method of making a cushion go to my How to Make a Cushion Tutorial. Or you could appliqué it by hand on to a Christmas tote bag. I have used buttonhole stitch (or blanket stitch).

Christmas Tote BagI have added a very detailed Machine Appliqué Tutorial to the Tutorials page if you would like to see my machine appliqué method and process. You will find the ‘Luv Me Ted’ design sheet on the Machine Appliqué Tutorial page.

And if you like this design you might be interested in my Christmas Sampler Quilt Pattern which includes the ‘Love Me Ted’ with other Christmas designs. Maybe a little late to make for this year, but possibly for 2014.
