New Quilt Pattern – My Blue Heaven

Back in 2011, you may remember that I organised a Quiltalong on this blog and we made this heavenly quilt.

My Blue Heaven

The quilt is a sampler quilt made up with 12 different patchwork blocks in a selection of colourways coupled with appliqué blocks. And to make it a little more challenging than your run of the mill Sampler Quilt the blocks are all 6 inch blocks. It was great fun to sew and is a pretty impressive looking quilt. It also can be made in three different sizes.

Here are some of the blocks.

I actually made some lemon blocks too but haven’t got around to putting those ones together yet.

Blue & Lemon Blocks

For some time I have been meaning to write up all the patterns and instructions into a pattern for sale in my Pattern Shop as I know many of my more recent followers would have missed it.

Well once again ……..mission accomplished. You will now find the pattern in the Pattern Shop. I have named it My Blue Heaven.

However, it’s not all good news. It is still waiting to be quilted! So, I am not quite as virtuous as I may appear. But, little by little I am whittling away at the bucket list.

Boxing Rings Pattern now available

Boxing Rings Pattern

Finally, I have published the pattern for this quilt.

I am embarrassed to say that this should have been ready back in September when the quilt was finished, but somehow a number of circumstances overtook me and I won’t bore you with the details (or excuses!).

You may remember that I invited your comments with a suggestion for a name for this quilt and I had a number of amazing suggestions. I finally narrowed it down to two.

The winning suggestion was ‘Boxing Rings’ as I really felt that this described the quilt the best, particularly as I quilted it with circles (rings). And this winning suggestion was offered by Pat Johnson. So, Pat, a free copy of this pattern is on it’s way to you.

However, I was particularly smitten with another of the name suggestions, which was ‘Square Route’. I also thought this described the pattern well and I loved the title. But, I guess the quilted circles (rings) had the edge. But, as I liked the ‘Square Route’ suggestion so much, I thought I might use it for a future design (cogs have already started whirring in my brain). So, for Gladys I also have a free copy of the pattern.

If you would like to order a copy of this pattern it is available to buy and download immediately in my Pattern Shop
