Christmas Apron

This is a super-easy apron to make from a tea towel.

Download The Apron Pattern Instructions to make the apron.

Once you have made the apron you need to download and print the Christmas Apron Pattern Sheet.

If you are using a light coloured tea towel you should be able to place the design underneath the tea towel and it will show through for tracing. You can use a lightbox if you have one or alternatively you can sellotape the design on a window pane and place the tea towel on top to trace your design. If you are using a dark coloured tea towel you will need to trace the design using dressmakers carbon paper. Clover make a good carbon paper called Chacopy. The pack contains 3 or 4 different coloured papers.

Position the letters J and Y either side of Santa and stitch the Christmas words above as shown.

Christmas Joy

Use your chosen fabrics for the appliqué design and your preferred method of appliqué. I have used a machine zig-zag stitch.

The words are stitched using either coton a broder thread or 3 strands of stranded embroidery thread and back stitch. I have also stitched the beard curls and rosy cheeks with embroidery thread. I have used french knots for Santa’s eyes.

You can either appliqué the bobble on the hat or add a button as I have done.

Now you have finished making your apron it is time to bake your Christmas cake. Happy baking!
